Turquoise – fine stone and deviratives

I will continue my explanation on the fine stones. Today, let us talk about turquoise and its derivatives.
I’m not going to go by 4 ways, in fact everything we sell you is not real!! Well, you have to be careful.

Yes, it’s Howlite or tinted magnesite. Because these fine stones are porous and so you can easily heat and dye them.

We also find reconstitution, that is to say small pieces of turquoise glued to each other with copper.
There are also reconstitutions with dust that are bonded with resin.
The only real one is stabilized turquoise.

Pour voir si c’est de la vraie, 2 solutions:

– run a cotton swab with a little acetone (nail polish remover) over the stone. If it is bluish it means there has been dyeing.

- or you have to break a piece and see inside. If it’s white, it’s Howlite.

Moreover the hardness ( see my post on theMohs scale) is not the same, the howlite is 2.50, the magnesite is 3-4 while the true turquoise is slightly less than 6.
But there are also deep tints as shown Ioula Hofer, a geologist on her video based on a riddle she made us.

There is also real light blue turquoise. It depends on where they come from.

Enfin, je vous mets en photo, les différences que l’on trouve sur le marché. Chez moi, vous trouverez en boutique que de la vraie.
Natural Howlite, tinted, color turquoise magnesite,

and finally real Tibetan turquoise.

I hope you can see a little clearer about this fine stone.

Submit your questions to me, and I will answer them as best I can.
See you soon.
